The case studies below are a good way to learn more about some of the fabulous businesses in our area.

2019 Brexit Marketing Project

In late 2019 Cheshire West and Chester Council's Business Growth Team secured monies to be able to provide fully funded marketing support aimed at helping businesses to tackle the impact Brexit may have on their business.

Marketing is an important part of any business, B2B and B2C, and the monies enabled the CWaC Business Growth Team to procure a marketing strategy company to support 10 businesses with 10 hrs of fully funded 121 support including an audit of their marketing strategy and preparing for new opportunities and markets.  

As part of the project a video was produced to capture feedback from some of the businesses supported.

 

Abda and Weigh of the World

Abda Ltd Coffee Shop, affectionately known as Abda’s, is a home grown Coffee Shop from a Northwich local.  Abda and the team are dedicated to producing high quality food and drink, with all their baked goods being made from scratch in the Coffee Shop, with a little help from local produce suppliers. 

Weigh of the World is an independent business in Northwich.  A zero waste shop - providing customers with the ability to refill food and cleaning products into their own containers, buying as little or as much as they want and reducing packaging.  They also sell toiletries and other everyday items that can be reused, helping people move away from single-use, throwaway items.

Like many businesses both have had to put a number of changes and measures in place to help keep staff and customers safe during COVID-19.  Watch this short video to learn more about each business and how they continue to provide their services during these challenging times.  It is more important than ever to support our local traders.

Barlows, based in Malpas, provide a complete range of property maintenance solutions across the UK. Appliance Repairs & Installation. Data & Telephone. Domestic and Commercial Heating. Electrical. Electrical testing & compliance. Fire & Security. Plumbing. Property Maintenance & Services.

Buccaneer

Buccaneer based in Northwich provides work wear, school wear, sports wear and printing and customised branding services.

Cadscan

Cadscan, based in Chester, combines advanced 3D imaging, 3D printing and 3D visualisation technologies to create high-value products.  They invest heavily in R&D  and collaborate with sector-specialists, using advanced technology to develop cost-effective, cutting-edge products.

Chester Zoo

Like many businesses Chester Zoo has put a number of changes and measures in place to help keep staff and visitors safe during COVID-19.

EA Technology, based in Chester, is at the forefront of innovation in power technologies, investing in research and development of new techniques and processes.

Earthborn Paints

Earthborn, based in Frodsham, provide stylish, high performance paints that are safer to use and sound for the environment.

Up until now, it has been relying on shops to sells its unique product.  However, with the rise of internet shopping and the power this gives businesses to sell online directly to customers, Earthborn feels it is time to change its outlook.  Cheshire West and Chester Council's Business Growth Team has supported the business to take this next step in development.

 

Encirc

Encirc, based at Ash Road, Chester, is a state-of-the-art glass manufacturer.

Forresters

Forresters, based in Frodsham, primarily produce roasted, steamed or marinated cooked chicken portions; cooking 60 tonnes of chicken daily, which is sourced from British Red Tractor suppliers. They also have a busy repacking department specialising in slicing and packing product sourced from third party countries (such as Poland/Thailand).

Indigo Promotions, based on the Winsford Industrial Estate, are a family business established in 2000 providing branded and non-branded merchandise, including bespoke marketing materials to address a client's specific requirements.

Lisden Technology

Lisden Technology, based in Chester, is an experienced software development company offering custom software/product development and wrap-around services, working with local, national and international clients delivering on projects across a range of sectors.

Lisden plans to grow by becoming a manufacturer of electronic devices, in addition to advising others.  The plan is to set up a factory where their technological expertise can be used to make their own products, and they have very ambitious plans for the future.

Moments Candles Co., based in Chester, was founded in 2016 by Helen McCue in her tiny kitchen, inspired by her love for candles and home fragrance products.

Powers & Tiltman Ltd are a land and measured building surveying company based in Frodsham.

Being aware of government strategic changes in the Construction industry, the team at Powers and Tiltman spoke to their local Growth Hub to see how they can prepare themselves to continually grow by diversifying their products and services.

Technoprint

Technoprint, based in Winsford, are the UK’s Largest Independent Supplier of Information Leaflets for the Pharmaceutical Industry.

When you buy some paracetamol or are prescribed any medicine, you know that small folded leaflet in the box describing how to take the medicine and the possible side effects? Technoprint print and fold those.

Tiger Trailers

Tiger Trailers, based on the Winsford Industrial Estate, manufacture trailer and commercial vehicle body products.

In 2019 Tiger Trailers moved into its new £22 million manufacturing facility.  The bespoke production plant and office complex is laid out over a 20-acre site comprising 168,000 sq.ft of state-of-the-art chassis fabrication, body assembly, paint and final finish facilities. Offices include a 3D Engineering Suite, a specialist training facility and a full height showroom –unique among UK trailer manufacturers. Design and construction of the new facility, which incorporates a host of energy-efficient systems, was completed in just 12-months.
