250 Winsford businesses to benefit from gigabit fibre broadband

19 November 2020

250 Winsford businesses are set to benefit from access to some of the UK’s fastest broadband as part of a major project to upgrade internet speeds in the area.

The gigabit-enabled, full-fibre internet connectivity will be available to occupants of Winsford Industrial Estate and promises to provide a super-fast, reliable network, as well as offer significant cost savings and flexibility compared to existing connections.

Delivered by neighbouring business, Concert Networks, with an initial build investment of £88,000, engineering work started this week and the high-speed network will be available to some businesses as early as January. Project completion is expected to be February 2021.

The Government has promised 100% Gigabit capability by 2025 with its announcement of its Project Speed infrastructure plan and Concert is playing a key role in delivering this locally, as part of the provider’s ‘Faster Britain powered by Concert’ campaign.

Managing director, Niki Addison, said: “The pandemic-induced culture shift of 2020 means working norms have altered significantly and there’s a major focus on digital presence. Businesses are under increased pressure to deliver cloud-based software, regular video calls and reliable connections for employees and robust connectivity is crucial.”

Concert Networks identified Winsford Industrial Estate as a key area in need of improved connectivity and is committed to delivering similar enhancements to other local ‘notspots’.

Niki continued: “We want to help businesses in the local area thrive and emerge stronger from these difficult times. It’s fantastic to see Winsford trailblazing gigabit connectivity within the region and we look forward to expanding into other poorly served business parks throughout 2021.”

One of the first businesses to commit to Concert’s full-fibre broadband is discount appliance specialist, All Your Appliances – based on Road One.

Managing director, Adam Cash, said: “As an e-commerce business, strong connectivity is the backbone of our business. With restrictions on high street shopping, we’ve never been busier and I need to know that my employees are operating with the best tools at their disposal.

“Concert’s offering is supported by industry leading SLAs and it’s comforting to know that if we need them, they’re right around the corner. I’d encourage other local businesses to seriously consider taking advantage of the availability of full-fibre broadband – it has the potential to dramatically improve productivity and was an opportunity we couldn’t ignore.”
