14 July 2020

Andy Haldane, Chief Economist and Executive Director of Monetary Analysis and Research at the Bank of England will deliver the keynote address at the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership’s second Economic Summit and AGM.

The event takes place on 30th September and due to ongoing social distancing restrictions will take place as an online summit and debate.

Mr Haldane commented: “I look forward to the LEP Economic Summit, to learn more about the economic issues facing Cheshire and Warrington at this very challenging time for the whole of the UK.”

At the summit, the Bank of England’s Chief Economist will deliver an update on the UK economy and provide insights into the challenges and opportunities facing our nation, including a look at the short and medium-term forecasts and how the UK will fare within the global context.

Clare Hayward MBE DL, Chair of Cheshire and Warrington LEP said: “We are really excited that Andy Haldane will open our 2020 economic summit.  In a year that has seen so much uncertainty and change, it will be great to hear directly from one of the UK’s leading economic decision-makers.

In addition to Andy Haldane’s keynote address, the LEP will set out its approach to helping the Cheshire and Warrington economy recover from the CV19 pandemic as well as providing an overview of some of its other activities to drive economic growth. The event will also include a live debate where we will discuss what the UK outlook means for our region and what steps are needed to rebuild an even stronger economy.

The 2020 Economic Summit takes place on 30th September, from 9.30am – 11.30am and places are limited.
