COVID-19 Vaccinations – information for businesses

26 February 2021

As you may be aware, those aged 60 and over are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as part of the current priority groups being vaccinated. Those within this priority group may already or will soon receive a letter from the NHS inviting them to book their vaccination appointment. These vaccinations are free of charge.

We expect that there are staff within your organisation who are now eligible and would like to encourage them to book their vaccination as soon as possible.

For those registered with an English GP, this can be done through the National Booking System. This is only available to eligible priority groups as they are released.

The National Booking System will give staff access to vaccination sites within and beyond Cheshire West and Chester. These are all NHS sites and include:

Chester Racecourse, Chester, CH1 2LY
Boots, Foregate Street, Chester, CH1 1NA
Pharmacy2U, Morrison’s, Winsford, CW7 3GZ

The National Booking System link is: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/

Appointments for both the first and second dose vaccination should be made through this route.

Staff can wait for an appointment with their GP but this could result in a delay in receiving the vaccine.

Staff will need their NHS Number in order to book their slot. Advice on how to find this is available via the following link: https://www.england.nhs.uk/contact-us/how-can-we-help/how-can-i-find-out-my-nhs-number/.

Anyone needing help to make their booking can phone the NHS on 119. Calls to this number are free of charge and lines are open from 7.00am to 11.00pm, seven days a week.

There are some important criteria that staff need to understand to ensure that collectively we reach those in most need and also manage numbers at the vaccination site. They can access an appointment if they:

Are able to attend for a second dose within the next 12 weeks
Have not already been offered and received their first dose of vaccination
Have not had a positive COVID-19 test within the previous 28 days
Have not had any new symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 28 days
Have not had a recent deterioration following a prolonged COVID-19 infection
Have not received any other vaccine (including the flu vaccine) in the previous seven days
Do not have any illness, infection or are feeling feverish

We would be grateful if you could bring this information to the attention of your eligible staff so that they can access the vaccine and protect themselves and others from catching and spreading COVID-19.
