Chester City Centre Pedestrianisation

29 April 2022

Much has changed over the last two years. The Covid-19 pandemic has made everyone think about what is important to them and how they have had to adapt their lifestyle. Our City Centre has faced the same challenges with retailers finding new ways of delivering their products and services to their customers. One of the changes we have seen in the city is an increase in the number of hospitality venues offering Alfresco drinking and dining through enhanced pedestrianisation. This has added a vibrant and exciting dynamic and has bridged the gap between the day time and night time economies, which we want to encourage and continue.

We would like to hear your views on enhancing several pedestrian access routes in Chester City Centre.

The access routes we are considering are:

- Bridge Street and Watergate Street
- Northgate Street, Eastgate Street and St. Werburgh Street
- Frodsham Street and Foregate Street.

Find out more:

For further information on each of these access routes, please click here and you can view maps of the access routes here.

How to get involved:

Please select from the options below to:

- Share your views with us using our interactive mapping tool (please note you will need to register and/or login to Participate Now to add comments to the map. This is to help create a safe online environment for people to share their views).
- Send us your views privately via our online survey.

We would love to hear what you think to help shape our plans for the continuing growth and prosperity of our heritage city.

The engagement exercise is open until 22 May 2022.
