Council supports environmentally friendly businesses

21 January 2020

Cheshire West and Chester Council is helping environmentally-conscious businesses from across the borough to grow and thrive.

Urban Tricycles and Earthborn are being supported by the Council’s business advisors and both predict a positive future, which will help the borough in its efforts to become carbon neutral.

Urban Tricycles builds and sells bespoke tricycles and carts to companies who use them at events and in mobile locations sell their products. It is an environmentally method of retailing.

Earthborn in Frodsham is a family business which started in 2002 selling eco-friendly paint at a time when products which were sensitive to the environment were less common.

Environmental awareness and tackling the climate emergency is at the heart of the Council’s plans for the next four years and beyond. It is looking to invest £15.5 million on initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint, including energy efficient street lighting, energy generation and transport projects.

As part of the Council’s work to tackle the Climate Emergency, children and young people are being asked to make short films to tell the Council, partners, businesses and industry in west Cheshire what they really feel about the Climate Emergency. These will be edited together and shown at the opening of the borough’s Climate Emergency summit – West Cheshire: Action on the Climate Emergency in February. The deadline to submit videos is Wednesday 29 January. For more information visit the Council's website
