Flood-hit Ellesmere Port pub confirms reopening date

30 July 2021

The Chimneys in Hooton suffered severe damage from the flooding during Storm Christoph, forcing it to stay closed even when COVID restrictions lifted as repairs were still ongoing.

It was originally due to reopen in May, but the date had to be pushed back after the damage was discovered to be more extensive than first thought.

But in a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for the pub confirmed that it will be finally reopening in late September.

They said: "We would like to take this moment and opportunity to say thank you so much for all your kind words and messages over the last seven months or so whilst we have been closed due to flooding.

"It is with great pleasure that we can announce that WE WILL BE RE-OPENING late September!

"Our designers and buildings teams have created some fantastic ideas and drawings of what we will look like when we re-open and these will be shared in due course!

"Until then please still bear with us, once we have our table lay out planned and details finalised we will open up our booking systems once more."
