High streets prepare to reopen

11 June 2020

As the high streets across the borough prepare for the next phase of reopening on Monday, Cheshire West and Chester Council are working with partners to make sure Chester city centre and our towns remain safe and welcoming.
Over the past week new signage has been put in place to remind people to still maintain social distancing. Some areas have seen one-way and give way signage, keep left signs and pop up pavement widening.

High streets will see a multi-agency team helping shoppers and giving advice as they experience the new look shopping environment.

The new electric street-cleansing machines introduced in April are proving to be very effective, they are being used across the borough to spray disinfectant around the streets and the city centre and removing ingrained dirt from pavement surfaces.

Visitors to Chester can visit the digital high street map next week to see some of the new changes that include additional pedestrian areas and a one-way walking route for the Rows.
