Planning approved for new Hoole bar

29 March 2021

The proposal to turn the old Nisa Local premises in Hoole into a drinking establishment has been approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Homebrew Tap Hoole Limited - part of Wirral-based Homebrew Tap - is behind the change of use application to transform the vacant Faulkner Street property into a bar specialising in craft beer, wine and spirits.

The planning application states: "This application is to open a specialist craft beer, wine and spirits bar on Faulkner Street, Hoole, redeveloping the existing empty shop space."

In a report recommending approval, council case officer Emily Reed said: "The proposal is considered to represent a compatible re-use of a unit within a local retail centre.

"While the proposal will result in the loss of a retail use, this is not found to harm the vitality and viability of the centre or result in an unacceptable concentration of non A1 uses.

"In all other regards the proposal is considered to represent a sustainable development."
