COVID-19 Business Grants

Latest information and how to apply

The Chancellor recently announced that the following grants will be given to businesses to support them during this period of disruption caused by COVID-19.

Small business grant funding of £10,000 will be granted to all businesses in receipt of small business rate relief and rural rate relief.

Grant funding of £25,000 will be granted to retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a property with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000.

Businesses entitled to a grant do not need to apply. The government have instructed the Local Authority (Cheshire West & Chester Council) to make payments as soon as possible after 1st April 2020.

The Business Rates Team are currently identifying those businesses which will be eligible for a grant under both schemes and will be writing to all businesses who meet the criteria w/c 23 March 2020 to let them know the support that will be available and when/how it will be paid.

Where they hold bank account details they will be making the payment electronically and aim to start making these payments by Friday 3 April. For those businesses where they do not hold bank details they will be making cheque payments and aim to start sending these out by Friday 3 April.

The Business Rates Team have created an online data capture form for businesses to submit account details online (if you do not pay your business rates by direct debit or you qualify for small business rate relief, we will not hold any bank details for you and we are unable to make payment via cheque).
