Power Up Your Business: Rules of Origin in Context

Description

This event is run by the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce, but it is part-funded by Cheshire West & Chester Council to permit a limited number of fully-funded places for businesses on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here to register.

"Whenever the UK makes a trade agreement with another country, part of the aim is to negotiate nil or reduced tariffs on the import of goods between the partner countries.

Since 1st January 2021, the UK has a new Trade and Cooperation Agreement with the EU, and a series of agreements with other countries around the world.  In each of these agreements is a section which confirms what rules must be met for you to be able to confirm your goods are of UK origin and therefore eligible to claim preferential treatment when they clear customs in the destination market (the same is true for imports).  And you may need to issue a declaration or additional documentation to substantiate this.

The rules can appear complex but companies need to understand them, how they work and the evidence that must be held within the business to satisfy HMRC.  In this session we will explain how the rules work and when/where to find the information you need."
