Business rates are charged on most non-domestic properties, like:

- Pubs
- Warehouses
- Factories
- Holiday rentail homes and guest houses
You’ll probably have to pay business rates if you use a building or part of a building for non-domestic purposes.

Business Rates are collected by Cheshire West and Chester Council and is a national tax collected locally which is payable by the occupier or owner of business property.

Find and check your business rates valuation
You can check the ‘rateable value’ of your property - this is set by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and used by your local council to calculate your business rates bill.
If you pay business rates, you may be eligible for rate relief. There are several rate relief schemes available. This page lists the schemes and how to apply.
The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) has updated the rateable values of all business, and other non-domestic, property in England and Wales.
These future rateable values will take effect from 1 April 2023.
