A new investor network is offering more than just financial backing for Cheshire businesses.
In a bid to accelerate business growth across the region, entrepreneurs from Cheshire and Warrington are channelling both their capital and expertise into promising ventures through the newly launched Cheshire Business Angels.
The network, launched by Enterprise Cheshire and Warrington's Growth Hub, brings together up to 70 investors and high-net-worth individuals to support small businesses in sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, and digital technology.
Steve Purdham, chairman of the Cheshire and Warrington Business Advisory Board, said: "The Business Angels offer businesses a vital opportunity to secure funding that could transform their operations and establish them among the region's trailblazing companies.
The programme offers more than funding, with investors also providing ongoing strategic guidance in exchange for equity.
The network launched with a Dragons’ Den-style event on Wednesday, February 11, at The Aviary in Alderley Park.
Entrepreneurs pitched their ideas to an audience of investors, advisers, and banks, collectively seeking nearly £2 million in funding.
Investors expressed interest and will continue discussions with the companies before making formal decisions.
Industry experts also shared insights at the event.
Delyth Edwards, senior manager, UK Network – North West England at the British Business Bank, spoke about the role of angel investment in innovation and regional growth.
The Business Angels network supports the Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Strategy (SIES), a 20-year plan approved by the Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority Shadow Board to deliver the highest rate of economic and productivity growth in the north.
