Construction and building businesses urged to attend Northwich Meet the Buyer event

A Meet the Buyer event is being held in Northwich to provide the opportunity for businesses to gain work across a range of building and construction trades.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is hosting the event, with the town set to benefit from major investment in regeneration projects both in the short and long term, which in turn can drive significant business growth alongside employment and training opportunities for residents.

In the short-term, the new Northwich Market fit-out contractor Medlock, is looking to grow its supply chain prior to work starting on the Barons Quay site in the coming weeks and for its other projects in the North West.

The longer-term development of Weaver Square by VINCI UK Developments to deliver an accessible residential-led community, featuring over 100 new high quality modern homes, will also offer opportunities for local businesses to be considered for contracts as the project progresses.

In addition, the Council’s Facilities Management provider Equans, are looking for suppliers across a range of skills including roofing, general building and groundworks alongside specialist skills such as lightning protection and mansafe systems.

The Council’s Let’s Talk Business Team will also be providing best practice advice at the event on how to tender for contracts and complete tender applications.

Will Earl, Pre-Construction Director, Medlock said: “We are really looking forward to commencing the fit-out for the new market and are keen to meet ambitious local businesses that can partner with us to deliver a wonderful space for customers to enjoy and traders to thrive.”

Cllr Nathan Pardoe, Cheshire West and Chester Council Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said:

“I hope that local businesses take advantage of this event to meet buyers, it’s a chance to be considered for contracts as we begin to transform Northwich Town Centre and to keep spend local. Our construction partners are keen to meet potential suppliers and work with us to ensure businesses based in the Northwich area can benefit from the town’s regeneration.”

The event will take place on Monday 16 February at 8 – 10am at Brio, Northwich Memorial Court, Chesterway, Northwich, CW9 5QJ.
