Northwich YouTuber creates pink toolkit for Breast Cancer UK

Shadow Foam Ltd, a Northwich-based business known for its tool storage products and popular YouTube channel, launched the project in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The toolkit is now going under the hammer to support the charity, with the auction beginning on Friday, October 10, and running until midday on Monday, October 20.

Managing director Jonathan Shone said: "I am lucky to get the chance to work with a lot of very capable and tenured women in the trades, who are often unjustly underserved by the low quality of these 'made for women' pink toolkits.

"Although I am aware not all women want pink tools, I wanted to buck the stereotype to prove it was possible to make a pink toolkit that would stand the test of time and hold up on site."

The project aimed to challenge the industry term 'pink tool disease,' which refers to low-quality tools marketed in pink as 'for women.'

Jonathan curated a high-quality pink toolkit using professional-grade tools from leading brands such as Wera, Snap-on, Mac Tools, and Teng.

He said: "I have enjoyed the process, and hope it inspires more women to get involved with good-quality tools and tool kits.

"I am also very excited to see how much we can raise for charity from this project.

"It was very motivating for me knowing it was going to be auctioned off in the end for the charity."

The entire process was documented on the company’s YouTube channel and included collaborations with female creators such as Ruth Amos, Nerdforge, and Daisy Tempest.

Following the success and interest in the project, Jonathan hinted that more charity toolkits could be created in the future.
