Winsford-based haulier S. Cooper & Sons celebrates 100 years

After a journey from delivering coal and milk via canal and rail, to becoming one of the 'vanguards of the haulage industry', a Winsford firm is celebrating its centenary.

Family-run haulier S. Cooper & Sons has marked its 100-year milestone with a celebration to remember for its staff and partners.

Founded by Samuel Cooper in 1925, the firm began life in North Rode, near Congleton, before flourishing into a nationwide operation.

Now boasting a 100-vehicle fleet, 150 trailers, and 150 staff, the haulage company prides itself on delivering 'top-quality service' across the North West and the UK.

Operations director Anthony Bullock says the fact the business is now run by the fourth generation of the Cooper family helps maintain a close sense of community and teamwork across the company.

He said: "We are very proud of our history which dates back to when Samuel Cooper began the business.

S. Cooper & Sons was one of the founder members of the Road Haulage Association, a trade association responsible for campaigning, training, information and business services for its members within the industry.
