Businesses on Winsford Industrial Estate have voted overwhelmingly to renew the Winsford Industrial Estate Business Improvement District (BID), delivering one of the strongest BID ballot results ever recorded in the UK. An exceptional 99% voted in favour by number, and 99% voted in favour by rateable value (RV).
This resounding result secures a fifth consecutive term for the Winsford Industrial Estate BID — the longest-serving industrial estate BID in the UK, operating continuously since April 2006.
Over the past 20 years, the BID has invested more than £2 million into the estate, supporting crime prevention initiatives, business support services, aesthetic and signage improvements, and a wide-ranging programme of free training to upskill employees.
The successful BID 5 ballot will generate over £800,000 of additional investment across the next five years, ensuring Winsford Industrial Estate continues to be recognised as one of the leading trading estates in the North West.
Key achievements delivered to date include:
- Extensive crime prevention and security initiatives
- Dedicated business support programmes
- Significant aesthetic, landscaping, and signage enhancements
- Free training and skills development for employees
With near-unanimous backing from the business community, BID 5 will continue to strengthen the estate’s competitiveness, infrastructure, and overall business environment.
Phil Lomas, Chair of the Winsford Industrial Estate BID Board, said:
“This outstanding 99% approval is an incredible endorsement of the BID’s work and the shared ambition of our business community. Winsford Industrial Estate has benefited from nearly two decades of consistent investment and partnership and BID 5 means we can continue driving improvements that help businesses thrive. We are proud of what has been achieved and excited for what the next five years will deliver.”
Cllr Nathan Pardoe, Cheshire West and Chester Council Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration & Digital Transformation said:
“Winsford Industrial Estate is one of the most important employment sites in our region, and the BID has played a vital role in its continued success. The Council welcomes this outstanding ballot result and remains committed to working closely with the BID to support economic growth, business resilience, and ongoing improvements across the estate.”
Jane Hough, Deputy Director for BIDs and Business Services, Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire & Merseyside, added:
“Groundwork CLM is proud to continue to oversee the delivery of the BID and to work with such a committed and forward-thinking business community. This exceptional 99% approval highlights the real value the BID brings to businesses and the confidence they have in its future direction. We look forward to delivering the BID 5 business plan and continuing to enhance Winsford Industrial Estate as a safe, sustainable, and successful place to do business.”
