Plans are afoot to convert a vacant Chester city centre shop premises into a new pub. North West-based Amber Taverns is behind the proposal for the former Bonmarché store on Foregate Street.
The pub chain, which has several sites across Cheshire including The William Jessop in Ellesmere Port, has submitted a premises licence application to Cheshire West and Chester Council. It is proposing to name the new venue The Leopard Tavern.
The Bonmarché store closed more than two years ago and the premises has stood empty ever since. The property, valued at in excess of £750,000, has been marketed by Kenney Moore property consultants who say it is currently 'under offer'.
