Local Industrial Strategy for West Cheshire
Developing ambitious Local Industrial Strategies is central to delivering the National Industrial Strategy’s vision to build an economy fit for the future, with prosperous communities across the United Kingdom, and to drive up productivity.
Cheshire and Warrington LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership) is currently developing its Local Industrial Strategy, underpinned by a robust evidence base (including that which underpinned the Strategic Economic Plan). This strategy will identify the distinctive strengths of the sub-region, whilst highlighting potential issues that may hinder growth aspirations.
The LEP has been engaging with businesses and other key stakeholders to test this evidence and the initial insights and conclusions that it is drawing from it, a summary of which is available here. Cheshire West and Chester Local Area Industrial Strategy (LAIS)
It has been recognised that there are both similarities and differences between the local authorities in the sub-region. As a result the LEP allocated some additional funding to each Local Authority to develop a distinct Local Area Industrial Strategy (LAIS). Cheshire West and Chester have worked closely with consultants Metro-Dynamics to drill into the evidence base generated for the LEP area to further identify what the challenges and opportunities are for the borough.
