Harrods H Beauty brand gets Chester Council green light

The eagerly-anticipated arrival of Harrods H Beauty in Chester has taken a big step closer to realisation after council officers approved planning permission.

Plans to bring the high-end brand to the city were put before Cheshire West and Chester (CWaC) Council planning officers in the middle of December.

On Friday, January 24, council officers confirmed that the plans to take up space in the iconic former Browns of Chester building in Eastgate Row have now been approved.

There were some concerns over the plans’ approach to the building’s heritage – as it is listed – but planning officer Lyndsay Shinner, in a report to council, explained approval was given because the benefits of the proposal outweighed heritage concerns.

Her report added: “The site has been used as a retail premises for more than 160 years."

“The site is in a prominent position on Eastgate Row (south) on the main shopping street in Chester and visible from the City Walls and Eastgate Clock."
