Home Instead director Ruth Brown appointed as BFA chair

A leading figure in the care sector has taken on a major new industry role.

Ruth Brown, chief operating officer at Home Instead, has been appointed chair of the British Franchise Association (BFA) board.

The appointment follows a vote at the organisation's annual general meeting in December and marks a significant milestone, as she becomes only the second woman to hold the position since the BFA was established in 1977.

Based in Northwich, Ruth said: “It’s a real honour to be appointed chair of the BFA.

She takes over from Paul Thompson, founder of Water Babies, and will represent thousands of franchise businesses across the country during her tenure.

Ruth has been instrumental in Home Instead's growth, supporting franchise owners in delivering high-quality care, creating jobs, and making a positive impact in their communities.

She is the second woman to ever hold the post since the BFA was established.

Pip Wilkins QFP, CEO of the BFA, said: “Ruth brings a wealth of experience to the role, and her leadership within Home Instead has been exemplary.

"Her appointment is fantastic news for the association and the wider franchise community”.
