University of Chester graduate named as global tech hero

A University of Chester graduate has been named as a Global Tech Hero for his efforts in the field of AI.

Victor Aston, who completed a master’s in computer science at the university, was recognised at The Connected Awards for his positive influence on global technology.

Now working in the UK as a data analyst, Victor was hailed for his work at US fintech company Oze, where he analysed trends and opportunities and played a role in securing the company international recognition.

The Ghanaian national is also a mentor at Mozisha, a technology workforce development firm, helping guide future analysts.

Victor said: "The most rewarding aspect of my career so far has been seeing the real-world impact of my work.

"At Oze, the dashboards and analyses I developed became central tools for leadership, guiding decisions that helped the company secure investment and gain international recognition, while also supporting thousands of small businesses across Africa to grow."

His work on the role of AI in data analysis also saw him deliver talks and author an essay titled, 'AI Can Analyze the Data.

It Still Needs Humans to Ask the Right Questions.'"

This, he says, shaped his approach to data analysis, where he combines technical insights with an understanding of human behaviour and business context.
