Northwich Market could relocate to Barons Quay as homes plan unveiled

Northwich Market could be relocated as part of plans to transform Weaver Square into a 'new residential community'. It would be housed in the vacant corner units opposite H&M. This would enable the creation of a new modern market including an alfresco area, traditional stalls and food and drink options.

The council is currently talking to the existing market traders about the future options. As a result of the relocation, housing would replace empty shops and buildings at Weaver Square with work expected to start in 2026.

The local authority's aim is to deliver 'modern, affordable and sustainable town centre living as part of a mixed-use development with public spaces and supporting infrastructure'. It is hoped the new residential community will support existing businesses, help attract new investment, and provide a much-needed boost to the evening economy.
