A Chester pub has been named as the best in the UK for its entertainment offering. The historic Saddle Inn, in Grosvenor Street, has picked up the accolade in this year's Great British Pub Awards.

The pub was the only Cheshire pub to make the shortlist of six nominations, but managed to beat off competition from the Almondsbury Creative in Gloucestershire, The Kings Arms in Kent, Kings Arms in Salford, The Anchor Inn in Kent and The Rigger in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
